Unite. Inspire. Mobilize.

Taken directly from the brochure.

Global Partners HEALTH NETWORK Unite. Inspire. Mobilize.

Global Partners HEALTH NETWORK helps to advance the mission of The Wesleyan Church by uniting, inspiring, and mobilizing members for involvement in global medical ministry.

UNITE: We are healthcare professionals, students, and others interested in sharing the love of Jesus Christ through global medical ministry from home and abroad. We give our time, money, and energy to strengthen the medical ministries of The Wesleyan Church and partner organizations. We inspire each other to greater levels of commitment and service. We are Global Partners Health Network.

INSPIRE: The emphasis Jesus placed on physical healing is just as relevant today as it was when he sent his disciples.  The responsibility of leading the sick while spreading the good news of Jesus Christ remains the mission of individuals and local churches. Let Global Partners Health Network inspire and help you fulfill this mission by connecting you with other members and to medical ministries around the world.

MOBILIZE: Global Partners Health Network believes that medical mission trips strongly connect health care professionals with medical ministries.  These trips give a realistic view of challenges and opportunities and provide a foundation for greater service at home and for long-term service globally. Come serve with Global Partners Health Network on short-term trips or long-term assignments with Wesleyan medical ministries and partner organizations.

"And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal." Luke 9:2

365 Challenge

I borrowed this directly, word for word from the Caribe Atlantic Area web site. Under Wesleyan Mission Haiti. The links do work if you want to learn more. At the summit I think they reported at 40 days were spoken for at this time. Dr. Kris

365 Challenge

The original hospital on La Gonave was built in 1958. Due to damage from the earthquake, the need for a new facility became urgent. The new hospital was designed to meet international earthquake standards and was built by employing a Haitian workforce. In September of 2013, the new facility celebrated its grand opening ceremony with a little work remaining to be finished. We anticipate operations will completely transition to the new facility by June 2014.
While the hospital currently generates 60% of its projected costs through patient fees and grants, we are launching the "365 Challenge" to raise the remaining funds. Approximately $1000 per day is needed to offset the operational costs of the new hospital. We are looking for churches, individuals, small groups, or Sunday school classes to choose a day, week or month and send the funds needed to support those days. Gifts can be recurring or one-time donations.
The 365 Challenge will help fund:
  • The immediate hiring of several medical and administrative personnel
  • Across-the-board staff salary increases needed for full government accreditation
  • The launch of a retail pharmacy, a badly needed local resource and income producer for the hospital
  • A dignified indigent program for the very poor
  • Increased partner services for the 6500 Compassion sponsored children on LAG island
  • Renovations of the nursing school scheduled for the fall of 2014
You can download an informational packet to share with individuals or churches here

Sorry for forgetting.

First, I would like to apologize for forgetting what the stated goal of this blog as seen on the blog header states.

I would like to try again to return to the original goal and revitalize this blog to 'to increase the impact and effectiveness of this ministry through prayer, financial and work team support' but will change the goal slightly.

I guess if you look at the blogs posted in 2008 I forgot my stated goal and the blog became a 'find information about the 50th anniversary of the LaGonave Wesleyan Hospital and therefore once the celebration ended so did my reason to post at this blog.

Over the next few weeks I hope to be rethinking and reworking this blog to start anew.

We just returned from a visit to LaGonave and with joy I walked through the halls and rooms of the new Wesleyan Hospital building and saw the staff working to provide care for the patients.

I picked up some brochures about some of the current ministries and their needs that I intend to share with you.

I will be looking for other web-pages and blogs to link to this page so you can learn more about the various ministries and partners.

Feel free to make suggestions, share ideas and pray!  Please pray for the medical work.

Wesleyan Medical Fellowship

New Note. Feb. 9, 2015-this organization transformed into Global Partners Health Network. For more information see the link on the sidebar.

Some people may not know that such a fellowship exists. Read more to find out how you can become a part or go to www.wesleyan.org/gp/wmf1 to learn more and sign up. The following information comes directly from the web page. Dr. Storer Emmett is the current director.

Wesleyan Medical Fellowship is an Auxiliary of The Wesleyan Church whose purposes are: to identify and enlist health professionals, including students, around the world; to establish local chapters where there are members; to assist Global Partners in filling positions in our hospitals and clinics overseas; to provide community outreach as needed (blood pressure screening, free clinics, etc.); to find resources to meet health care needs within and outside North America; to provide professional counsel to any area of The Wesleyan Church; to collect and disburse funds for medical missions at home and abroad. Our chief goal is to bring glory to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Volunteerism characterizes our activities and many have done short-term missions trips. The Short-term Medical Assistance Fund was utilized to provide transportation and field support for those going for longer periods to meet emergency personnel needs.

Our efforts as evangelical medical ministries, both at home and abroad, have impacted many, resulting in conversions and subsequent church growth. Our future ministry will be determined by the many changes occurring in medical missions. We are confident that the Holy Spirit will guide the Wesleyan Medical Fellowship to respond to new challenges – for the glory of God.
